Know Your Library

Library Overview

Sir Padampat Singhania University Library System, initially setup in 2007, consists of Central Library (both School of Engineering & School of Management), which collectively supports research activities of the university by facilitating the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources, and also provides library and information services to the SPSU community. The library is an integral part of the university and imparts its services to students, faculty members, and other staff members. The central library is fully automated through the ERP – Library Mangement Sysetm.

It provides a single-window search facility to access the information resources available in the library. It is centrally air-conditioned which creates an aesthetical and congenial environment for serious minds. The library has a seating capacity for over 150 readers The catalogue of books and other study materials is available online.

Library Advisory Committee (LAC)

The Library Advisory Committee plays an advisory role with respect to the library in terms of general policy, planning, programs and goals. The objectives of the LAC are to support the university’s need for teaching, learning, research, community building and to assist in establishing a bridge between the library and academic fraternity  with management.

The following members are the constituted representatives of the LAC –

  • Chairperson: Dean, School of Engineering is the chairperson of LAC
  • Members: HOD of the all department are members of LAC
  • Secretary: Librarian is the the Secretary of LAC

Library Services

Online Catalogue

The Online Catalogue of the library is available 24X7 throughout the year. Users may search and check the availability of a particular book, journal, audio-visual material, theses, dissertation, etc. anywhere and anytime. Web Opac- https://spsu.servergi.com:8071/OPACSPSU/#/

Digital Library Service

The Digital Section in the library is having a good number of Computer Systems, which proide accvess to a variety of E-Resources, such as E-books, E-journals, and a whole lot of material for fulfilling the academic requirements of the library users.

Documentation Service

The Documentation Section provides services such as photocopy, scanning, typesetting, designing and printing. Library users are provided with some discount on the given services.

Current Awareness Service

In this service the received books/journals in the library are routed to the faculty members and students, so they may visit the library for reading relevant received study materials

Access to E-resources

Online Access is provided to users for variety of E-resources. Users can access E-resources within and outside the campus as well. The usage data of E-resources is generated periodically and analyzed further to subscribe to relevant content for the users.

CD/DVD Content Service

On the pattern of Journal Content Service, this service arranges the contents of recently received CDs/DVDs and routes the same to the faculty members and students, so that users may make use of CDs/DVDs received by the libraries. Received CD/DVD along with books & journals/magazines are available under this services.

Newspaper Clipping Service

The Newspaper Clipping Service is also provided by the library of SPSU. The newspaper clipping service arranges the clippings of Academic activities, News, Notices, Advertisement, write-ups, etc.

User Awareness Programs

The Central Library of the university organizes User Awareness Program at the beginning of the academic session, so every new user of the library may know about various resources and services of the library and also methods to access or utilize the same.

Digital Library

Developing Library Network

DELNET is the Major Digital Library Resources in South Asia and the main objectives of DELNET is to promote resource sharing among the Member-Libraries by collecting, storing and disseminating information and by offering networked library services to users; to undertake research in the area of information science and technology, offer technical guidance to Member Libraries coordinate efforts for suitable collection development; facilitate and promote Inter Library Loan and delivery of documents, etc. DELNET has developed Discovery Portal, Knowledge Gainer Portal and Vision Portal (Video Lectures). The portals have sophisticated features for advance knowledge discovery.

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning

NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), is a joint venture of the IITs and IISc, funded by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Government of India, and was launched in 2003. Initially started as a project to take quality education to all corners of the country, NPTEL now offers close to 600+ courses for certification every semester in about 22 disciplines.

National Digital Library of India

NDLI Is a repository of e-content on multiple disciplines from primary to PG levels. It has 4.3 crores content (Text / Audio / Video / Simulation /Graphics), harvested from 250 sources; in 300+ languages. NDL has 55 Lakhs + registered users.

South Asia Archieve

South Asia Open Archives is a free open-access resource for research and teaching – a rich and growing curated collection of key historical and contemporary sources in arts, humanities and social sciences, from and about South Asia.

Membership Priviliges
The library is primarily intended for use by faculty, students, research scholars and other members of the SPSU community. Each member is provided with a library membership card. The categories of members and their privileges are as follows:
