SPSU celebrating the International Women’s Day organized a workshop ‘NAHI means NO’. NAHI means NO is an online and on-ground sexual assault, harassment and awareness, safety, empowerment and equality campaign. The eminent speakers were Sangeeta Bose Tagore Anand - certified by Emory University for SEE (Social, Emotional & Ethical), Learning - the learning framework conceptualized by His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Sunanda Lahiri Kashyap, Afsheen Mulla Kanwar, Anum Mulla, Anil Kumar and Varnak Singh - Krav Maga Experts. The workshop aimed to visually influence, change and empower the mindsets of the younger generation towards a safer future by emphasizing the power of speaking up & saying NO and promoting positive masculinity, empowerment and gender equality messaging and friendship and buddy interventions. The workshop focused on maintaining gender neutrality to avoid isolating either boys or girls. Ms. Anand and team stressed on the contemporary issues such as right over one’s body (right to say No), social conditioning, kinds of abuse, cyber abuse and cleared the myths related to sexual abuses. Through role-plays related to real-life situations the group motivated the students to voice out and verbalize ‘NO’ and speak about ‘the uncomfortable’. The team also demonstrated some self-defense tactics to protect oneself and take care of the emergencies. The students, faculty and administrative staff of the University participated actively in the interesting and interactive session.

Col. Praveen Deo, Commanding Officer, 5 Rajasthan Girls’ Battalion, NCC Udaipur Group, Rajasthan Directorate conducted a workshop on Survival Skills on March 4, 2020 at SPSU. Col Praveen Deo has been serving the Indian Army for the past 29 years with enriching experiences in Operations, Logistics & HR Management and has been the part HIMEX (Himalayan Expedition) Motor Sports Event, recorded in The Limca Book of Records. Through various documentaries and live videos he brought to light the hardships, endurance of a soldier’s life and the ways to handle the stressful situation in the field as well as real life. Appreciative of girls joining NCC and the Armed forces he shared his experiences of facilitating, guiding and providing NCC training to over 2000 Girl NCC Cadets enrolled in various Government as well as private educational institutes spread over 7 Districts of Rajasthan. He motivated the youth to join Indian Army and contribute towards the nation’s development.

Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur in association with JK Cement Ltd. and Human Capital, New Delhi organized the HR Conclave - 2020 and 3 rd YP Singhania HR Excellence Award Ceremony on Friday, 28 February 2020 at its campus. Theme of the Conclave was –‘Technology & Skills in the Emerging world of work’. The Conclave began with an Inaugural Session which was followed by Technical Session on ‘Technology & Talent-Challenges and Initiatives’ (Technology & HR Innovative practices) and a Panel Discussion on ‘Corporate Expectations from new Recruits- Rendezvous with students’. The 3 rd YP Singhania HR Excellence Award was given to Mr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Managing Director and CEO, PNB Metlife. He was felicitated by Mr. Madhavkrishna Singhania, COO, JK Cement Ltd. Eminent speakers in the various sessions of the HR Conclave 2020 were Mr. Vijay Rai, MD-Enterprise Business, Asia Pacific & EMEA Markets-Saviour Inc.US. Preeti Das, CEO, DigiSpice technologies Ltd. , Neha Saxena Shenoy, Global Head-Diversity & Inclusion, Reckitt Benckiser (India Ltd), Amit Pandey- COO, Exicom Tele-Systems Ltd., Rajiv Khurana, CMC, FIMC, International Management Consultant and Trainer, M. Shakun Khanna, Sr. Director HCM Strategy & Transformation, Asia Pacific, Oracle, Anirudha Singh-Group CHRO, GHCL and Amit Das, Director and CHRO, Bennett & Coleman Co. Ltd. The experts discussed about the role of technology, digitalization, the opportunities, challenges and the innovative HR practices implemented in the industry in order to keep up with the changing times.

A Guest Lecture on Social Media and Security was organized on February 19, 2020 at SPSU. The speaker for the session was Ms. Lavanya Singhal. She is a consulting editor and journalist for Nature Lounge magazine. She is also a freelancer and contributor in leading magazines including India Today. In the session, she discussed about using social media as a publicity platform, the threats and the protective measures one must adopt in order to keep the social media accounts safe as well as protect the data. She highlighted the influence of social media on business and cleared the misconceptions about hacking and gave information about the copyright and trademark concepts. Branding, hazards of social media and cyber bullying were the chief highlights of the lecture. The students and the faculty members participated in the workshop.

With an objective to use hands-on teaching tools and inculcate scientific thinking among students SPSU organized a fully funded Regional Workshop on “Research Based Pedagogical Tools(RBPTs)” for undergraduate and postgraduate science and mathematics teachers in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, DBT/ DST, Govt. of India from February 17-19, 2020. The knowledge partners for the workshop were Newton Bhabha Fund and British Council. Facilitators trained by a team of experts from UK. The workshop introduced teaching methods that focuses on the process of science rather than information and help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The workshop also gave a platform to present the innovative ideas and make teaching-learning interactive and interesting.
