Expert Lecture on Biological Analysis and Cyber Techniques of Forensic Sciences in Crime Investigation

The ‘Faculty of Integrated and Advanced Technology’ organised an invited expert
lecture on October 22, 2024. The lecture entitled, “”, was delivered by a Forensic
Science expert Dr. Manoj Bhandarkar, Deputy Director and Incharge, Mini Forensic
Science Laboratory (MFSL), Thane, Mumbai, Maharashtra in an online mode. More
than 30 students of Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and
Mining Engineering disciplines from Faculty of Integrated and Advanced Technology
(FIAT) enthusiastically participated in the lecture. Dr. Bhandarkar explained the
insights of the forensic science laboratories, about its organization, the various
divisions of investigations like the Biological Division, DNA Division, Cyber Division
and others. He also explained about how the analysis of biological samples such as
blood, semen, hair etc is interpreted and connected to the investigations. He
elucidated the new emerging techniques of forensics that are now been used more
efficiently in the investigation processes eg. GAIT analysis and DNA profiling. The
lecture was continued with the question answer session, where the expert answered
the questions from the students and the faculties. During the question answer
session the expert narrated the requirements and future prospects in the forensic
sciences area. The Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Dr. Manoj
Bhandarkar. Prof. Naveen Kumar, Dy Dean, FIAT expressed gratitude and
appreciated the guest, Dr. Manoj Bhandarkar for his insightful and motivating lecture.
He also thanked the attendees for their active participation. The event concluded
with the vote of thanks by the coordinator of the event Dr. Archana Gajbhiye.
