Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur organized a workshop on Origami and
Creative Thinking on March 5, 2024. A luminary in the field of design Professor
Jayant Vasant Joshi, from JJ School of Architecture and Visiting Professor, Design,
Amity University and Apeejay School of Architecture was the session expert. The
participants were spellbound by his insights on the symbiotic relationship between
origami and creative cognition. Emphasizing the role of mentors in shaping one's
journey, he brought to light the significance of embracing creativity as a means of
expression and problem-solving. Through hands-on demonstrations Professor Joshi
interacted with the students and imparted his expertise. His adept instruction
highlighted the significance of origami as more than just an art form but as a conduit
for fostering innovative thinking and honing manual dexterity. Professor Joshi is also
renowned for his proficiency in Vastu Shastra and in the interactive lecture he
discussed the profound connection between ancient wisdom and contemporary
design principles. He enlightened the audience with the subtle interplay of cosmic
and magnetic energies in our everyday lives and elucidated on how adhering to
Vastu principles can enhance harmony and vitality. Delving deeper, Professor Joshi
explained the elemental foundations of Vastu Shastra and focused on the profound
influence of the five elements – earth, water, fire, air, and space – on architectural
design and spatial arrangement. His discourse on directional analysis, in alignment
with these elemental forces, provided invaluable insights into creating environments
conducive to holistic well-being. The engaging and informative session left an
indelible mark on the participants.
