Spring in the Air- Positivity, Knowledge and Blossoms Everywhere

The festival of Basant Panchami which marks the end of winter and the onset of spring was celebrated with great bliss and enthusiasm at SPSU on Jan 25, 2023. Under the visionary guidance and motivation of the Honourable Vice Chancellor and President Prof. (Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee an array of events were organised to mark the celebration. The Centre for Sustainable Energy Studies organised an expert talk on   Sustainable Water Resource Management.  In the inaugural address Honourable President & Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee emphasized on sustainability, water conservation techniques and resource management. Dr. Anil Mehta, Principal, Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic, also known as “Jal Purush” and “Citizen Engineer”, Udaipur elaborated on the impact of inappropriate use of chemicals and contamination of water. Further he enlightened the audience with the present situation of water quality of Udaipur and the efforts of his team to improve the quality of water for healthy living. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ritesh Tirole, Coordinator, CSES & Mr. Aman Jain.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a session on ‘Solar Panel Technology’. Mr. Ronak Jain, Sunsafe Infra Services briefed the students about the importance of renewable, clean source of electricity. He also informed the audience about the operation, installation and maintenance aspects of solar panels. Dr. Naveen Kumar and Dr. Pankaj Rastogi coordinated the event.

The Centre for Innovation in Skills & Social Entrepreneurship (CISSe) organised a prototype making competition UTKARSH- 2023 in which the students of the University displayed their designs, explained the concepts and presented the working models. Dr. Amrit Ghosh, Dr. Shweta Lalwani, Dr. Shibani Banerjee and Dr. Chandani Joshi coordinated the event.

 The evening commenced with the worship of Goddess Saraswati– the deity of knowledge, music, art, wisdom and learning. The serene ambience, the artistically done alpanas, the sound of conch shells and the chants of the sacred mantras added to the festivity. The spring of joy was prevalent not only in the traditional attires worn by students and faculty but also in the aesthetically designed handmade decorations by the students using environment friendly material. The festive atmosphere was heightened with the melodious song and dance performances by HOPE – The Environment Club of the University students and the entire campus beamed with the spirit of divinity, positivity, joy and happiness. Dr. Tulika Chakraorty, Dr. Amrit Ghosh and Dr. Shibani Banerjee coordinated the event.

Prof. Sanjiv Tomer, Pro President, Dr. Sanjay Mishra, Registrar, Prof. Vinod Patidar, Dean Research, Prof. Sadananda Prusty, Dean School of Management,  Prof. Arun Kumar Dean SoE, IQAC coordinator Dr. U R Singh, Proctor Dr. Deepak Vyas, Deputy Dean Student Welfare Dr. Monika Anand, Head of Departments, Faculty members and students of the University participated actively in the events.
