SPSU with its multicultural environment believes in inclusiveness and moving ahead
with this motto Lohri and Makar Sankranti- the harvest festival was celebrated with great
zeal and enthusiasm at SPSU. The day marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac
sign of Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. On Jan 13, 2023 the University
celebrated Lohri celebrated the festival with exuberance and pomp. The Honourable
President Prof. (Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee applauded the spirit of togetherness, jubilation
and motivated everyone to follow the righteous path upholding the values and traditions
of our rich cultural heritage. The foot tapping music, melodious song and dance
performances added to the festivity.
Kite Flying was organized at SPSU on Jan 14, 2022 to celebrate Makar Sankranti. Kites of different colours and shapes soared high and took to the clear blue sky. The students flew their colorful kites in the beautiful surroundings, running and ducking in an attempt to keep their kites airborne for as long as possible. The students, faculty and residents of the University participated in the event with great fanfare.
