About Faculty of Applied Sciences

The Faculty of Applied Sciences, one of the newest faculty of Sir Padampat Singhania University,
was established in September 2024. It aims to provide high-quality teaching of basic science
subjects to Engineering as well as Management students. The faculty of Applied Sciences at
SPSU is striving to be acknowledged for excellence in teaching, research and outreach, at a
distinctive locus of science and technology. Research is carried out in all major areas of chemical
and physical sciences. It has started its journey of making technology contributions in new
materials for energy solutions, environmental remediation, water and healthcare. The faculty
members are dedicated to provide individual attention to the students with the goal to develop a
strong foundation for their respective future careers by nurturing their analytical abilities and
critical thinking. The faculty provides well equipped laboratory facilities to the students as a part of
their curriculum.

At the same time, the faculty aspires to establish its name in research with world-
class and high-impact outputs in the frontiers of applied sciences in interdisciplinary areas.
Particularly, the Chemistry and Physics department possesses some highly-motivated young
faculty members with research experience from various premier institutes of India and abroad.
Their research interests encompass diverse areas of applied as well as fundamental sciences,
spanning fields like Atomic & Molecular Physics, quantum computing, condensed matter physics,
Nano-technology, Environmental chemistry, Natural plants and drugs design. The faculty
members are currently focused on establishing their own research groups to pursue research on
their respective thrust areas.

To emerge as a dedicated centre of excellence in applied sciences by imparting basic science
knowledge to engineering students and taking a leading role in research in the frontier areas of
applied sciences.

Dean Academics

Dr Bhavana Adhikari

Dr Bhavana Adhikari is a Mechanical engineer with a doctorate in management and has a vast
experience of more than 25 years in teaching , research, training and academic administration. Dr
Adhikari is a highly accomplished academic with expertise in the field of educational innovation and
curriculum development. With a keen understanding of the evolving needs of students and the
changing landscape of education she has been instrumental in designing the flexible credit system
that aligns seamlessly with the National Education Policy 2020. She has been a resource person and
a trainer for Management Development Programmes at various national and international forums.
Her research interests include competency development, personality studies, employee
engagement, and management communication. A keen researcher she has published several books/
research papers in reputed refereed journals. She has been the principal coordinator of two
prestigious European Union, ERASMUS+ projects on Capacity Building in Higher Education.

Prof(Dr) Deepak Vyas

Dy Dean – FAS

Dr. Deepak Vyas presently working as Dy Dean (FAS) SPSU with a teaching Experience
more than 25 years with several administrative positions at Department and University
level. Actively involved in research problems based on Environmental studies including
water and soil pollutions with several publications in international and national journals of
repute. Guided several research scholars during the course of research and is presently
working in the capacity of Proctor, Overall Club In charge, Presiding Officer for
Examination, Member of Academic council, Member BOS(SOE), Member of Employee
grade(iv) committee, Member of Disciplinary committee, Nodal officer for UGC, Member
of student Grievance cell and Chairman Anti-ragging committee.

He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), IET(UK), Royal Society of Arts London, Iranian Neuroscience Society, IETE, ISRD (UK), IAER (London), Nikhil Bharat Shiksha Parisad (Govt. of West Bengal) , Scientific Communications Research Group Egypt and Senior member of the IEEE (USA).
