Introduction

An educational visit to the Indian Parliament was organized for students of Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur, with the aim of enhancing their understanding of the legislative system, democratic processes, and governance. The visit provided an opportunity to witness parliamentary proceedings, explore India’s rich political history, and gain insights into the nation’s constitutional framework.

Places Visited
Parliament Visit
Students had the privilege of visiting both the Old and New Parliament Buildings, including:

• Central Hall (Old Parliament Building):

• A historically significant venue where the British officially transferred power to India in 1947.
• The guide explained its legacy, including speeches by national leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru.

• Rajya Sabha (Upper House) – New Parliament Building:

• Students learned about the role of the Rajya Sabha in reviewing and amending proposed legislation.
• The guide elaborated on the architectural theme and seating arrangements, highlighting the peacock-inspired design.

• Lok Sabha (Lower House) – New Parliament Building:

• Students gained an understanding of how laws are debated and enacted.
• The theme of the Lok Sabha, inspired by the national flower – the Lotus, was explained in detail.

• Parliament Museum and Visitor Gallery:

• A specially curated exhibition showcasing how Indian culture, mythology, and historical traditions have shaped the country's Constitution and democracy.
• Interactive displays and multimedia presentations helped students understand India's rich political and constitutional heritage.

Sightseeing & Cultural Exploration
In addition to the Parliament visit, students also explored some of Delhi’s iconic landmarks:

• Bangla Sahib Gurudwara: A spiritual experience at one of Delhi’s most revered Sikh shrines.
• India Gate: A tribute to Indian soldiers and a symbol of national pride.
• Humayun’s Tomb: An architectural marvel offering historical insights.

The visit to the Indian Parliament was an insightful experience, offering students a deeper understanding of governance, law-making, and India's democratic framework. The guided explanations provided clarity on the historical, architectural, and functional aspects of both the Old and New Parliament buildings. The museum visit further enriched their knowledge of how India's heritage has influenced its legal and political systems. This educational trip successfully blended academic learning with cultural exploration, leaving students with a profound appreciation for India’s democracy and historical legacy.
