Chiba University of Commerce, Japan Fall Programme 2017 at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur | October 9, 2017


An orientation programme was organized by School of Management, SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur on Monday, 9th October 2017 to welcome a group of four students from Chiba University of Commerce, Japan along with Prof. Watanabe, Vice-Dean, Faculty of Global Studies. The Japanese students will stay for a period of two months for a cultural immersion programme and develop an insight towards the Indian culture, economy and history. They will also participate in industrial visits and projects on contemporary issues. The SPSU President, Mr. Ashok Ghosh and Vice President, Ms. Rinu Ghosh conveyed their best wishes to the participating students.



Blood Donation Camp at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur | September 25, 2017


The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of the University in association with HDFC Bank organized a Blood Donation Camp on 25 September 2017. The camp commemorated the birth centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a stalwart leader, philosopher, thinker and social worker. Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards the society. The donors received a certificate of recognition and a donor card by which they can avail one unit of blood free from Blood Bank in next six months. The faculty, students and administrative staff of the University participated ardently in this life-saving selfless drive. A team of paramedics and doctors from Saral Blood Bank, Udaipur supervised the successful functioning of the camp.



Padma Shri Professor Deepak B. Phatak addressed 7000 faculty members across the country at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur | September 16, 2017


On 16th September 2017 Padma Shri, Professor Deepak B. Phatak an Indian computer scientist, academician and inventor of blended MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) model addressed more than 7000 faculty members across the country from SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur through A-View. SPSU is one of the remote centers of National Mission on Education through ICT, initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India and nodal center of Rajasthan. In the inaugural session of second phase of Faculty Development Programme on Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process, he highlighted the effective use of MOOC in teaching pedagogy and explained the conceptualization of blended MOOC model. He guided the faculty members about incorporating MOOC in their daily teaching-learning process and how these courses could enhance their teaching skills and benefit the students. The interactive session was widely acclaimed by the faculty members across the country.



Teacher’s Day Celebration at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur | September 5, 2017


The students of SPSU celebrated Teacher’s Day to facilitate the teachers and express their love and gratitude towards the teaching fraternity. Since 1962, India commemorates the birth anniversary (5th September) of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India's second president, a great scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna recipient by paying tribute to its hardworking teachers and gurus. Teachers not only enlighten our minds but also nourish our souls. The students of the University in the ceremony glorified the hard work and dedication put in by the faculty. The lightening of the lamp was done by the Vice Chancellor, Professor P.C. Deka. The mesmerizing performances of the students enthralled the audience. The Vice President Ms. Rinu Ghosh thanked the students on behalf of the faculty for organizing such a wonderful show and remarked that she felt humbled by such gestures of the students. The overwhelming response of the students and teachers marked the day as a special one.



Celebration of 71st Independence Day at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur | August 15, 2017


To mark the freedom of the nation from British colonialism and the countless sacrifices made by freedom fighters the 71st Independence Day celebration took place at SPSU. Professor P.C. Deka, Vice Chancellor hoisted the tricolour. Professor Deka in his speech paid homage to the freedom fighters and legends who valiantly fought for the independence of the country. He highlighted the achievements through green, white and blue revolution to make the country self-sufficient in food production. He brought to light the accomplishments of the Nation and asserted on Prime Minister’s call for a new India to be built where the dream of ‘swaraj’ would come true. Furthermore he motivated the youth to work hard towards the attainment of their goals.
The students, faculty and administrative staff of the University participated with patriotic fervour in the celebration.



Activities conducted by the NSS cell of SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDAIPUR during the Orientation week | August 14, 2017


To make the students socially responsible and aware of their commitment towards the society, the NSS cell of SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDAIPUR organizes a number of activities for the newly enrolled students during the Orientation week.
1. Go Green Rally, 11 August 2017
With the objective of sensitizing the students towards environment the NSS cell organized Go Green Rally wherein the students were taken to the adopted village Bhatewar.
2. No Polythene Campaign, 12 August 2017
To create awareness towards the hazardous effects of polythene the cell organized a Paper bag making competition using old newspapers under the theme of “No Polythene Campaign”.
3. Tree Plantation Drive, 14 August 2017
The cell also organized a tree plantation drive. The initiative aimed at creating awareness among the students about the multifaceted benefits of trees to the environment, society and the well-being of all.
The students participated enthusiastically in these events.



SPSU Students Return from Exchange Programme at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan | August 03, 2017


A group of five students Akshay Jharia, Dhairya Jain, Mahima Sharma, Suraj Gwariya and Taha Hussain from the School of Management participated in the 7th Student Exchange Programme at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan from July 15, 2017 to July 30, 2017.They were accompanied by Dr.Shweta Lalwani, Asst. Professor, School of Management, SPSU. The programme focused class room instructions on Civil Movements in Japan, Japanese Arts & Culture, Japanese Financial Markets and learning through industrial visits. The students visited Haneda Chronogate, Yamato Transport Co., JFE Steel Corporation, Asakusa Temple, Sumida Hokusai Museum and Life Safety Learning Center. Various cultural and academic activities were conducted and SPSU students participated enthusiastically in all the activities and won prizes.
In the Poster presentation on ‘India’ under the activity ‘World tour at I Square’ SPSU students gave a presentation on their poster to Japanese high school students and participants from 11 countries and 19 universities. Students enjoyed at Disney Sea, Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree and island of Odaiba. The International exchange programme was a unique and wonderful blend of fun and learning.



SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDIPUR announces 7th International Summer Exchange Programme at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan | July 15, 2017


SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur has nominated five students of School of Management and one faculty for the 7th International Summer Exchange Programme (16-30th July 2017) at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan.
Besides the academic pursuit the students will also visit industries like Haneda Chronogate, Yamato Transport Co. Ltd, JFE Steel Corporation. They will be exposed to Japanese cultural practices and visit Life Safety Learning Center, Sumida Hokusai Museum and I Square.
Suraj Gwariya, Akshay Jharia, Dhairya Jain, Taha Hussain and Mahima Sharma along with a faculty mentor Dr. Shweta Lalwani, will participate in the Exchange Programme



SPSU Students Selected for International Industrial Training at JK Cements, Dubai | June 27, 2017


A group of 12 final year students of SPSU left for a two month International Summer Industrial Training Programme at J.K. Cement Works, Fujairah, Dubai, UAE, on 27th June 2017. It would be an all expenses paid industrial training programme in the UAE. These students will be paid a stipend to meet their incidental expenses. The cost of international travel, visa fees, stay expenses, transportation including Airport pick and drop, daily pickup and drop from apartment to office and lunch at their canteen or guest-house will be provided by JK Cement Limited. Post one week induction programme, these students will be allotted a live project on the basis of their subject of specialization and a mentor from industry would be assigned to guide and monitor their progress. An orientation programme was arranged in the University campus prior to their departure to acquaint them with the work culture and social ethics to be followed in UAE. The session was conducted by Mr. Tushar Sawhney from J.K. Cement’s corporate office, New Delhi. The President Mr. Ashok Ghosh and Vice President Mrs. Rinu Ghosh offered their best wishes to the students.



Celebration of International Yoga Day at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDAIPUR | June 21, 2017


Predawn rain failed to dampen the SPSU’s spirit to celebrate the International Yoga Day. While the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi takes the initiative in Delhi, the faculty, staff, students and trainees at SIR PADAMAPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur join together to spread their mats and perform Yoga to be a part of the ‘New Era’ of peace and harmony.



SPSU’s Foreign Industrial Training Programme 2017 | May 26,2017


Sir Padampat Singhania University is organizing an International Industrial Training Programme with stipend and all expenses covered at JK Cement Works, Fujairah, Dubai, UAE for selected Final Year students of B.Tech. The training will be for 10 weeks. All expenses, besides monthly stipend, international travel cost, Visa, lodging, boarding and travel within the city will be paid by the company. The students would not only gain international work experience but also get an opportunity to develop cultural sensitivity.



SPSU nominates Aroun Amitabh Dalawat for MS at University of Nebraska, Omaha, USA | May 21,2017


Aroun Amitabh Dalawat, student of B. Tech. (Computer Sc. & Engg.) has been nominated by SPSU for MS (Plus 2 Integrated Graduate Program) at the University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO), USA after successfully completing third year from SPSU. Aroun is the second candidate to be nominated for this Integrated MS program on the basis of his performance. Outstanding qualified B. Tech. students join this programme with an option to complete the graduate degree (MS) in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Information Assurance and Management Information Systems starting at UNO in the fourth year of undergraduate program in Computer Science and Engineering. Students will be eligible for admission to this international graduate track at UNO after the completion of their third year at SPSU and will be awarded B.Tech and MS degree from SPSU and UNO respectively.



Summer Exchange Programme at CUC Japan | May 21,2017


SPSU nominates a group of five students from School of Management(SOM), viz., Suraj Gwariya, Akshay Jharia, Dhairya Jain, Taha Hussain and Mahima Sharma alongwith Dr. Shweta Lalwani, Assistant Professor, SOM for participating in 15 days Summer Exchange Programme organized by Chiba University of Commerce(CUC)-Japan. The progamme scheduled between 16th and 30th July 2017 has been a regular feature and is being organised every year as a part of the academic collaboration of SPSU with CUC. The programme will give an exposure to the Japanese culture, economy, model of growth, corporate culture, business practices and academic environment. The participants will also get an opportunity to visit organisations such as Haneda Chronogate, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd., Life Safety Learning Center (Experience earthquake/rainstorm simulation, etc), Sumida Hokusai Museum, World Tour at iSquare, JFE Steel Corporation etc.


TCS workshop at Sir Padampat Singhania University | April 11,2017


TATA Consultancy Services visited SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDAIPUR on 11 April 2017 and conducted a workshop on Big Data, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT). Mr. Narendra Singh Chandel, Regional Head, Talent Acquisition, North India, Mr. Rajit Sikka, Head Academic Interface Program (North) and Cdr. Manash K Paul (Retd.) Senior Consultant TCS interacted with the students. The session focused on the features of cloud computing, virtualization, data analysis, deployment challenges and usefulness of Internet of Things. The workshop was followed by an interactive question answer session with the students. The delegates apprised the students of the various TCS flagship contests that offer exciting prizes and internship opportunities and also chances of getting pre-placement offers through these contests. The enthusiasm of the students and the delegates made the event a great success.

The NSS Cell of SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur distributed certificate of appreciation to the NSS volunteers for their active participation in the activities conducted by the cell. The NSS cell conducted Blood Donation Camp, No Polythene Campaign, Tree Plantation Drive, Health Awareness Workshops, Street plays and many such activities that develop the personality of the students through community service and contribute towards Nation building. The students, faculty and members of the staff participated in the ceremony.






International Academic Exchange Programme | February 17,2017


As a component of Academic and Cultural Integration, SPSU organized an International Academic Exchange Programme with Chiba University of Commerce Japan and College of Management Academic Studies, Israel from 17Feb – 3 March, 2017. Having international students on campus ensures stronger people-to-people connections and promotes relationship building and knowledge exchange that are necessary to solve global challenges. Mr. Hiroke Iwano of the International Centre of CUC, Japan and Prof. Shani Band, Faculty from COMAS, Israel along with 5 students from CUC, Japan and 8 students from COMAS, Israel participated in this programme. The 15 days immersion programme focused on sessions on Indian History, Globalisation, Economy of India, Cross Cultural Communication and exchange of ethics beliefs and values of participating countries. The industrial training sessions on Marketing practices in India, Human Resource Challenges and Financial Management were imparted to the participants at JK Cement Corporate Office, New Delhi. The programme included visits to historical places like Haldighati, Kumabhalgarh fort, City Palace, Udaipur and Taj Mahal, Agra. It is noteworthy that the participants participated enthusiastically in the Seminar on Impact of Demonetization and GST on Indian Economy and gave presentations on Art, Culture, Demography, Cuisines and Festivals of the respective countries.



Awareness Program on Capital Market – An Educative Initiative by BSE & NISM | April 03,2017


As part of its educative initiative, BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NISM (National Institute of Securities Market) conducted an awareness programme at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur on 3rd April 2017. Shri G. P. Garg, Registrar –NISM and Mr. Ishu Tayal, Regional Head, BSE addressed the august gathering. Mr. Garg dealt with a wide range of capacity building activities of NISM and the institute’s schools of excellence and certification programmes aimed at increasing the participation in securities market. Mr. Tayal discussed on the importance of share market, being financially literate for appropriate financial planning and investment opportunities.
The interactive session by the officials covered the basics of Capital Markets (Primary and Secondary) and apprised the students about various career options in different trading environments. The programme also focused on creating more empowering opportunities to investors as they can learn to earn while pursuing their studies. It is noteworthy that these kind of exposures to financial markets has led SPSU students do exceptionally well in their performance and earn in dollars in the Vision Alpha program yet another initiative on financial markets based on Traders Insight program by VALEUR HR.



29 Projects evaluated under project Endeavour | February 29,2017




Project Endeavour is an initiative of SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, Udaipur to promote innovation through multi-disciplinary projects by the students of varied interests. 29 projects were evaluated on 19th February 2017 by expert jury members from industry and academia. Some prominent areas of projects were Designing Smart devices using IOT, Water Harvesting, Producing innovative movies using animation studio, Green Computing, Entrepreneurship, Android app design, Road Safety Measures and Energy Conservation. The experts appreciated the projects and motivated the students to carry on with such initiatives as it provides a platform to nurture the talent and develops their personality.


National Seminar on Impact of Demonetization and GST on Indian Economy | February 18,2017




A national seminar on Impact of Demonetization and GST on Indian Economy was organized at SIR PADAMPAT SINGHANIA UNIVERSITY, UDAIPUR on 18th February 2017. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ashok Ghosh, President, SPSU. He brought to light the global perspective of the economy and discussed the prospects of India as the fastest growing economy of the world. He conferred De-monetization as a cultural economic revolution that is driving the country towards a digital economy. Talking about GST as a value added tax he stressed on its far reaching and significant impact on the economy. Professor B.P. Bhatnagar, Ex. Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan Vidhyapeet University, Udaipur and Professor Anil Kothari, FMS, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur enlightened the august gathering about the pros and cons of demonetization and application of GST on Indian economy. Delegates across the country presented their research papers and participated enthusiastically in the seminar. It is commendable that the students and faculty members of Chiba University of Commerce, Japan and College of Management Academic Studies, Israel, present in the University for the SPSU, Academic and Cultural Integration, Exchange programme too participated with great zest in this one day national seminar.
