Mechanical engineering derives its breadth from the passion to design and manufacture everything from micro devices to huge systems like aircraft. A Mechanical Engineer takes a product from an idea to the marketplace. To accomplish this one requires diverse knowledge on material selection, designing and suitable manufacturing processes to produce a standard quality product. The exclusive domain of mechanical engineering is to analyse and design dynamic products. Variety of industries need mechanical engineers such as automotive, aerospace, biotechnology, computers, electronics, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), energy conversion, environmental control, automation and manufacturing.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at SPSU is one year younger to the university and was established in the year 2008. The curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate students is contemporary and oriented towards the practical learning of engineering principles. Inclusion of industry oriented courses in the curriculum help student to be industry ready. The Department has state of the art laboratories with advanced equipment, where student perform experiments to verify the engineering concepts and also makes innovative projects for the benefit of the society. The Department is actively involved in consultancy and product incubation.
