The Target Club organized the team events for the session 2010-11. The team events comprised of boys singles, boys doubles 1, girls doubles, boys doubles 2 and mixed doubles matches. Each team comprised of a maximum of four boys and two girls. A team who won the three matches out of five, qualified for the second round. The league and quarterfinal matches were held from 28th Dec., 2010 to 6th Jan. 2011. Some matches were rescheduled due to bad weather conditions. But, the players have shown courage by playing in extreme cold conditions in the morning as well as in the evening.
The first Semifinal match was played between Imran Khan & Team and Kamlendra Singh & Team on 19th Jan. 2011 and Imran Khan & Team won in a crucial match by 3-1.
The second Semifinal match was played between Amit Piploda & Team and Vivek Sharma & Team on 20th Jan., 2011 and Vivek Sharma & Team won the match by 3-0.
On 31st of Jan., 2011, the history of SPSU’s Target club was rewritten with the last event of the crusade and fellow SPSU brethrens witnessed the best of the talents searched in the year 2010-2011.
The new badminton court at studio apartment was inaugurated by President Mr. Ashok Ghosh, and Vice President Ms. Rinu Ghosh by playing splendid shots. The topsy turvy movement of the shuttle kept the heartbeat of the spectators pulsating. The huge rounds of applause for the smashing shots were enthusiastically appreciated by all.
Our Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.C. Deka with Mr. D. B. Sengupta, Head corporate interface also came and played the shots to boost the moral of the players.
No gaming event is successful, if it fails to mention the toil of match referees and line men.
