Lecture by Mr. K.P. Kapoor, Sr. Manager, HZL Chanderiya on 25th Feb 2010

A guest lecture on Six Sigma methodology of Process Improvement sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Rajasthan was organized at SPSU on 25th Feb 2010. Prof. P.C. Deka, Vice Chancellor SPSU welcomed the distinguished guests Mr. R.K. Bansal, Associate Vice President, Hindustan Zinc Ltd. Chanderiya, Mr. K.P. Kapoor, Sr. Manager, HZL Chanderiya and Mr. G.L. Garg, Scientific Officer, DST Govt. of Rajasthan in his inaugural speech. Mr. K.P Kapoor enlightened the third year B.Tech and MBA students on the six sigma methodology that aims at a process efficiency of 99.99966%. He stated that six sigma is a variance based thinking that allows us to identify the defects in our process. Following the six sigma methodology helps us in continuous defect reduction in products and services, sales growth and meeting statutory requirements. His talk was educative and informative for all those who attended the lecture. Some of the queries regarding the six sigma methodology posed by the students were answered by Mr. R.K. Bansal.

After the lecture and queries answered prizes and certificates were distributed to the students who had visited the Hindustan Zinc Smelter, Chanderiya. Mr. Ankur Mehta, ECE III yr and Rashi Jain, Biotechnology, III yr received cash prize of Rs. 500 for the best technical report writing based on their industrial visit to Hindustan Zinc Limited, Chanderiya by Mr. G.L. Garg while Mr. R.K. Bansal gave certificates to the students who had gone on the industrial visit.
