| A Technical Report
I attended the Short Term Training Programme on “ Applied Numerical Methods for Scientists and Engineers” (ANMSE-2009) during 21st - 25th Dec. 2009 at the Department of Mathematics ,VNIT, Nagpur which was sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The STTP was aimed to introduce the recent developments and applications of Numerical Methods to problems of various fields of Engineering and Science. The rapid development of high speed digital computers and the increasing desire for numerical answer to applied problems have led to enhanced demands in the courses dealing with the methods and techniques of Numerical Analysis. Although numerical methods have always been useful, their role in the present day scientific research is of fundamental importance. One reason for this is that numerical methods can give the solution when analytical methods may fail.During the lecture session the following topics were covered by the guest speakers from different premier institutions like IIT(Kanpur), IIT(Bombay), IIT(Madras)and NIT(Warangal),VNIT(Nagpur).
- Numerical Solutions of ODE’s & PDE’s
- Finite Difference Methods
- Introduction to Finite Element Methods Software : NISA
- Incompressible Fluid Flows
- Computational Fluid Dynamics Models
- Modeling & Bio Fluid Mechanics
The program was intended to provide a platform to the participants and share ideas of common interest with experienced resource persons namely Prof. S.S. Gokhale (Director, NIT)
Prof. M.K. Kadalbajoo(IITK), Prof. Y.V.S.S. SanyasiRaju(IITM), Prof. A.G. Marathe(IITB), Prof. Y.N. Reddy(NITW), Prof. G. Radhakrishnamacharya(NITW), Prof. A.K. Tiwari, Prof. A.G. Deshpande, Prof. O.R. Jaiswal, Dr. G.P. Singh, Dr. M. Devakar, Dr. P.P. Chakravarthy(VNIT). The programme provided an opportunity to young teachers to have an over view of the current trends in this field. The program is useful to Mathematician, Scientists and Engineers intending to step into this fascinating area.
I extend my heart-felt gratitude towards the University who has given me the opportunity to attend the short term training program ( STTP ) and thereby learn the recent trends in the field of applied numerical methods.
