CONCERN - The Mentorship Cell

Concern, the mentorship cell was formed with a vision to provide a warm and friendly environment to students. Within the first semester of its functioning, Concern has greatly accomplished this task. A core team of 9 students with support of 100 students have put their efforts in this direction. The Concern club undertook following activities.

Admissions 2011:
Admissions to the first year students were given through 3 rounds of counseling (two for graduation programmes and one for post graduation programmes). Over 400 students participated in these counseling and were impressed by the role being played by students in university programme. The admissions were given only on merit basis.

Mentorship:

The admitted students were divided in groups of 10 and each group was given a faculty advisor and two students mentors. The student mentors helped the fresher in every possible sphere, academics, health non-academic etc. hence a bond was formed during seniors and juniors and the juniors felt at home. The mentors also keep a medical record of students. Besides this, the concern core team also provides counseling to the students.

Anti-Ragging Committee:

To curb the menace of ragging, a team of 11 students, 8 faculty members, 2 members from non-teaching staff, 2 parents and 2 first year students was formed. With the successful efforts of this team, SPSU proudly claims to provide a ragging free environment to the students.

Mess Committee:

SPSU has always encouraged student’s participation in university’s activities. Another step in this direction was the formation of mess committee. As the university provides food in two mess, veg and non-veg, two teams with 3 members each were formed. The mess committees help in deciding the menu for respective mess, with a view to provide a food which is tasty and healthy. The non-veg mess has also recently starts night canteen, which provides snacks at the doorstep of students during late hours.
